Feeling Blue

I have never liked Blue. I only tolerated Blue in very small intervals. You can even go as far as to say that I hated Blue in all of his overrated glory. Then I was forced to work with him in April for Autism Awareness Month.

After several bouts of complaining about Blue, I put on my big girl panties and accepted that I could get through a month of dealing with Blue. I sat down for my first meeting and came out thinking that wasn't so bad. The second and third week was easier and maybe even fun. By the end of the month I was looking forward to seeing and hanging out with Blue. Now I find myself looking and longing for Blue.

In case you haven't figured it out I'm talking about the color blue. With the exception of jeans I never wear blue. I wanted to show my solidarity with the parents of autistic children so wearing the color blue for a month was the very least I could do. When I started thinking about how to make sure that the color would be noticeable, I chose to go with nail polish. After careful consideration I chose the four colors (one for each week in the month). The first one was my favorite, it was a dark blue with a greenish tint to it. It reminded me of an automobile paint color. From there it was easy.

Here we are almost four months later and I find myself only looking at blue nail polish and coming up with ways to incorporate it into my decorating themes. I also bought a blue dress (that was not denim). So, here's what I realized: that blue is a very classic look. You can never go wrong with a great navy blue blazer over a white tee and a medium blue pair of jeans. A great dark blue pencil skirt with any color blouse will always make heads turn. The color blue has and will always be your friend and will never let you down.

I was searching for a pair of affordable glitter pumps to wear to my fictitious New Years Party. Then I realized that I have never made a new year resolutions.  Since I made the vow not cut my hair for two years on the 4th of July, I was hard press for a resolution for NYE. I knew not to try everyone’s favorite one about losing weight or working out on a daily basis. That will never happen. I hate cardio. So, I came up with learning to wear make-up, just a little, on a regular basis. (J.Michael laughed when read that last sentence.)

This will be difficult seeing that I have never really bothered to become a make-up girl. I own very little with the exception of lip gloss. It now seems that I somehow feel  incomplete when I get dressed up to go out. Hopefully a little make-up will help. Wearing lipstick is about the same as getting me to wear things that are shiny and glittery. It just does not seem right on me.

This pair of shoes will be worn to usher in a New Year and a new me. I hope that doesn't sound too corny (I know that it does).

Merry Christmas

We need better Xmas shoes
My family has bugged for a week to write my first post. I am writing this in an effort to get some Christmas spirit. I searched for a pair of Xmas shoes to inspire me and all I could find were these.------------->
They definitely did not help.

Even with a lack of inspiration I managed to get the presents wrapped and under the tree without being caught by my kids. This year I was reduced to wrapping on my bathroom floor after Avery declared that this is the year that he would catch me. He went through great lengths in his efforts from trying to stay up all night to setting up his flipcam to watch the tree. Avery you will have to get slicker than that to catch me.

Anyhoo (I hate when people say that) I'm off to cook dinner. Merry Christmas to everyone.
